Which factors affect your tax and net pay?

Family situation and children

The family quotient divides taxable income by a number of parts: 1 for a single person, 2 for a couple, +0.5 per child (first two) then +1 from the third. More parts = less tax, within the cap (€1,807 per half-part in 2026).

Overtime

It benefits from reduced employee contributions (up to 11.31%) and an income-tax exemption up to €7,500 net per year. Beyond that, the excess is taxable.

Bonuses and 13th month

Bonuses are subject to contributions like regular salary and add to taxable income.

Household income and real expenses

Tax is computed on total household income. You can opt for real expenses instead of the flat 10% allowance (capped at €14,555 per person).
